Experience

Dorothy Gibbs brings her extensive experience in all aspects of Employee Relations/Industrial Relations across a range of industries, including complex and challenging unionised environments to all her client engagements.

Dorothy has previously held senior and executive HR roles across diverse business sectors and has a strong understanding of the challenges faced by leaders in managing complex people issues.  A trusted and highly regarded advisor, Dorothy has coached many CEO’s/business leaders in people management capabilities, disciplinary and ER/IR processes and developed and facilitated workshops and training programs.

With strong legislative knowledge, and utilising best practice methodologies, Dorothy ensures she conducts effective workplace investigations and also provides sound expert advice on employment contracts and policies, workplace behaviour management, mediation, negotiation of agreements and risk mitigation to deliver on key business outcomes.

In her previous roles, Dorothy has led all aspects of ER/IR including negotiation of many Enterprise Agreements, management of all risk associated with day-to-day industrial issues including development of constructive relationships with unions /key stakeholders and dispute management including representing employers in courts and tribunals.  Furthermore, Dorothy has developed, advised and managed strategies and processes to implement major organisational and restructuring initiatives, sale/acquisition of businesses while minimising IR and compliance risks.

Dorothy is also a former Board member for the Women’s Legal Service of Victoria and has previously held the position of Chair, Family Law Legal Service of Victoria.

Dorothy is passionate about utilising her skills and experience to assist workplaces to successfully manage presenting issues and develop a positive workplace culture.
